New studio - Gothik Designs is going back to Pontefract!

Hi everybody!

Well apologies to all as I haven't updated for quite a while! What with extreme weather, first cold and snow, then hot and dry - the lateste being gusty up to 70 mph winds!!! What are we to do?

Anyway, Gothik Designs yesterday moved to a new home at Room 3, 29 Ropergate, Pontefract WF8 1LG - next to the Tai restaurant.Thde re-opening Party will be posted nearer the time. Got to finish a wedding for next week, and a mum of bride dress/jacket, then can think about decorating the new studio! Oh and then another wedding in July to do. . . plus updating the Facebook page, website and corset and waistcoats to make. Lots to do.

Wow its soooooooo cold! And its snowing a little again - just a flurry in the wind - the garden looks pretty though! Anyway finally started to do start some new emberoideyr designs - all from original medieval/tudor sources ie photos of orignal garments - woonderful resource books by Janet Arnold. Hopefully will start to get some worked front panels and trims so i can show you all what i'm working on.

All my embroidery is hand worked by myself using traditional stiches - particularly couching and chain stitch and all my designs are original and unique to me!

Well its short today but my hand is still recovering from being bruised! take care and keep warm. Debi x

Hi everyone! Sorry not been blogging - had a little accident and got a bruised hand! Been strapped up, x-rayed and told to rest it! Starting to use it again but typing mainly left handed - sorry for mispellss! Well congrats to William and Kate! Hi. Well its been quite a busy time - hence no blogging! I've done a few house things - painted the front door black - bit of decorating etc and been sorting out 'stuff'. Actually thrown a few things away - I am a hoarder by nature!!!!

And - have started on new designs inspired by my latest 2 brides to be! Of course I can't give all the details here - that just wouldn't be right would it? But a little glimpse of what I'm doing is acceptable I think! Medieval inspired gowns I'm working on - I have gone back to the original sources - ie to delve into my art and construction books as well as spending a little time looking at gorgeous medieval paintings - mostly portraits of women. Although, I have been more than a little inspired by men's clothing of the time as well - the decoration was used on both male and female clothing so its been quite an exciting time!! Have started on the sketches - and different colourways and fabrics - this is turning into a designing epic!! I'm developing new embroidery and embellishments for corsets, skirts and have a few ideas for new jewellrey and headpieces.

I have got a little distracted from making the new flower girl dress samples (smack my hands!) but will be back on them tomorrow! Wherre does the time go?? Anyway will have to sign off now - its very late and I need to be up early to do all this tomorrow!

Oh - will have some hairstyle adviced later in the week for ideas for medieval style weddings - speak to you soon. Debi x

Well that week went fast! Its saturday again - hubby is watching the football and I'm doing adobe re-sizing etc to new photos . . . my friend Andy P went to her family wedding last week in the gothic outfit I made her - you've already seen the new goth knot necklace I made but here are some photos of her (and her bag and choker).

Well - a dismal day weatherwise - but the garden still looks good. Not finished the flowergirl dresses yet . . .been working on my facebook page for Gothik Designs and putting up the new real bride photo albums. Don't know why I didn't do this before! Hi everyone! Well, got quite a bit done today - lots of tidying up, searching through piles of paperwork - most of which was junk mail or envelopes! Need to finsh this tomorrow and get some sewing done - the new flowergirl dresses for the photoshoot before the weather gets too bad! Best go.

Well - got my new sewing machine and overlocker - the overlocker is FAB! Differential feed! I never thought a machine could exciting to use! Anyway - as the weather is changing from hour to hour and we are going into autumn - my garden is my inspiration! We have finally done the majority of the re-style and re-used just about everything - including the old fencing! I'm really excited for the spring to see what's survived and those extra 'suprise' plants that appear then. Until then, i will just have to keep busy.

The new website is progressing. Major update is done although I still need to get the time to do the new banners, add yet more photos etc and of course the new wedding dress and flower girl designs . . . the first of the gothic necklaces is now on - I made this and was inspired by my friend Andy and her request for a 'gothic' outift to go to a family wedding in . . . pictures will be here next week (after the wedding!) but here is the new gothic necklace;

and the little bag I made to match - crinkled green tafetta overliad with black lace - finished with the turkshead flat knot and tassell! I am now a fan of YouTube having spent some time looking at different peoples ways to tie knots!

Still working hard on the new website - think I may have cracked it designwise and some pages are done - just need meta tags, desc, key words, images etc etc! Hoping to get a new - if somewhat smaller website up tonight! Will add pages as I go along otherwise it will take another month or so! Please give me feedback if you can. Debi

What meserable day!!! Rain, rain, rain and rain. Not very inspiring. The garden design is nearly complete so I'm working on other things now - mainly the new websites this week I think. No good for a photoshoot this week.

Model search is now on - have put a notice on my Facebook Page - wonder if I'll get anybody suitable and nice to work with? Have to wait and see I suppose. Why is it that the first 5 phonecalls from an advert are from other magazines/newspapers etc wanting you to advertise with them??? Its so frustrating! Thinking about exhibiting at wedding shows in Sept/oct - not sure which to do at the moment... will let you know when I've decided. Well best go - wow the winds picked up now as well - looks stormy. Cold, wet and windy - autumn is on the way now I suppose.

Well - the weather is annoying! Rain, rain and more rain - not very inspirational! Still makes me want to work on the new websites at www.gothikdesigns.co.uk and my tiara only website at www.fantasytiara.co.uk. Doing lots of things at the moment - designing new handfasting dresses, new medieval dresses (a bit of a contradiction I suppose!), new headresses and of course the new websites and this blog. Prom season is over and new photos from the girls are on my Facebook page.
